About US

Our Mission

Healing Path Community exists to disrupt suicide on nature trails and provide free, therapist-led walks that support emotional wellness, foster human connection, and create safe spaces for healing. We are committed to making mental health care accessible through community-centered, nature-based experiences that restore hope, reduce stigma, and remind every participant: you are not alone.

Our Vision

We envision a world where walking trails are not places of despair, but pathways to peace. Healing Path Community aims to become a leading voice in mental health advocacy, suicide prevention, and community wellness, offering compassionate, accessible care that moves with people—literally.

Through intentional partnerships, inclusive outreach, and licensed therapeutic support, we strive to grow a statewide network of healing walks where minds are quieted, stories are shared, and hope is restored—one step at a time.

Our Team

Healing Path Community Inc. was founded by a passionate team of educators, mental health advocates, and community leaders who believe in the power of nature, connection, and compassion to support emotional wellness and disrupt suicide on nature trails. Together, we create spaces where individuals can walk, talk, and heal—with licensed therapists guiding the journey.

Christal Shannon – Founder & President

Christal launched Healing Path Community to merge faith, therapy, and the outdoors into a powerful healing experience. Her leadership is grounded in advocacy, lived experience, and a deep commitment to restoring hope in hurting communities.

Maria Akinleye – Vice President

Maria brings strong advocacy for mental health access and equity. She ensures our programming stays people-centered, trauma-informed, and aligned with our mission of prevention and empowerment.

Chloe Thornton – Executive Program Director

Chloe leads the design and execution of our therapy walks, crafting experiences that are welcoming, reflective, and transformative for all who attend.

Kaneesha Poynter – Director of Financial Integrity

With deep expertise in nonprofit finance and grant development, Kaneesha safeguards our fiscal responsibility, ensuring transparency and sustainability as we grow.

Therapist Advisory Board – Coming Soon

We’re excited to introduce our Therapist Advisory Board—a collaborative network of licensed clinicians who help shape the therapeutic direction of our walks and ensure emotional safety for every participant.
